This Cross Country Camp is led by the Ankeny Cross Country Coaching Staff.
Open to ANY and ALL Students Enrolled in Ankeny Community Schools.

9TH - 12TH GRADE BOYS CROSS COUNTRY CAMP

Ankeny Hawks Boys’ Cross-Country Head Coach Jon Lindaman & the cross-country staff will again be offering a summer training program to runners entering 9th-12th grades. As a team we will train for 2020 PR’s and to continue the Ankeny Hawk legacy of running excellence.  We will strive to create a cohesive team and  increase strength, endurance and flexibility throughout the summer.

This camp will offer many different types of workouts and explore many different running routes around the community. We will gradually increase mileage throughout the summer, and each athletes training program will be tailored to their age, ability level, and desire to grow as a runner. Coaches will provide games to keep training fun, and each athlete will receive a camp t-shirt for registering.

Monday/Wednesday will begin with strength training followed by a running workout.  Tuesday/Thursday will begin with dynamic drills & plyometrics at the Southview track, followed by a running workout.

9TH - 12TH GRADE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY CAMP

Ankeny Hawks Girls' Cross Country Coach Eric Klingensmith and the Hawkette XC staff will again offer summer training camps to runners entering 9th - 12th grades. Join your teammates to train for a successful 2019 season by working to set PRs, build a cohesive team, and increase strength. Our camp includes various running workouts, flexibility, and strength training. Each athlete's training program will be tailored to their age, ability level, and desire to grow in their running experiences. Runners will log and gradually increase mileage throughout the summer, exploring several running routes, including games to keep the training fresh, fun, and exciting. T-shirts will be ordered when all registrations are complete and distributed at camp for those who log 150 miles or more on our Final Surge app. In addition, our staff will develop strength/speed training sessions as a primary focus of each Tuesday and Thursday of the weekly training schedule.

LOCATION: We will meet at the AMP (Ankeny Market & Pavillion) most days for our runs.
The training calendar will be posted on the Final Surge app with daily workouts that the girls will upload their distance and duration to after each run. We may move to other locations sites for some runs on Tuesday & Thursday as the focus of our training will be strength and speed training. This will be communicated through the Remind app.

SESSIONS: There will be two sessions offered for this camp. Session 1 will be an in person camp, where we will meet and run together and feedback will be given personally and in the Final Surge app. Session 2 will be a virtual only camp, where athletes will use the training calendar online to view the training calendar, upload their training information, and receive daily feedback online. Please sign up for the one you with which are most comfortable participating.
